From the 1959 science fiction novel of the same name, by John Wyndham. The nasty triffids are at the perimeter gate. It’s scary but exciting, better than no emotion. I wonder if they can be befriended. I wonder if monsters like these have a day off each week and if so what they do – a hobby? golf? family time? a bet on the horses? stand up comedy? chores? what?

Good scouts. I never was. I camp a lot. I’m hopeless at putting up a tent, or cooking a meal. But I do love camping. (Painting slightly damaged)
War is not cool, not ever , but…… that sentiment established it would be a little less uncool if the taker of a strategic bridge (without injury to anyone) raised a victory flag like this.
Sometimes fun is enough reason to paint something.
Like physics and maths at school I loved the thought of mechano but was hopeless and hapless.
I’d love to swim in this sea. I’m glad seas are blue (usually). Like the sky, it just wouldn’t be the same in some other colour. Painted whilst on containership, somewhere – probably not the English Channel, or the west coast of New Zealand, where the seas and skies are not always blue.
The dog looks down into the lake, for the first time. She sees fish and is happy.
